Introduction

TPSS Badminton CCA comprises of Team A, Team B and Team C. Team A is made up of students who are inclined towards picking up the game for recreational purposes and life-long participation, while Team B and Team C are our competitive teams participating in the Inter-School Tournaments and other external tournaments in their respective divisions.

TPSS Badminton conducts many programmes for our members, such as the Badminton Evaluation & Assessment Module (BEAM) Programme for Team A, Sports Umpire Award for Team B, and the Coaching Programme for Team C. Our CCA is also committed towards running Community Involvement Projects, and implements programmes such as conducting Badminton Sports Clinic for primary schools. We also organize tournaments such as the Pines Cup for Primary Schools and Tampines Badminton Cup, with the objectives of talent-searching as well as providing platforms for our players to hone their organizational and leadership skills.

Our competitive members have always been able to attain good CCA grades upon their graduation from the school, with the Captains and Vice-Captains achieving even more distinguished results. This is due to the vast opportunities under the leadership, enrichment, achievement, participation and service components. This will provide that extra edge for them when they apply for their next educational institution in the future.

Our VALUES are Teamwork, Passion, Sportsmanship and Success.

Our CCA logo is a fiery shuttle comprising of two colours, red and orange. Red signifies the passion that our members have for the game, while orange is likened to the colour gold which is common for high achievers. The integration of the two colours to form the feathers of the shuttle translates into teamwork that our students have, and the entire shuttle brings out the sportsmanship in our team.

Training Activities & Schedule

All our training sessions are professionally conducted by our resident coach, together with advice by our team of dedicated teachers. Our trainings are conducted at the school hall, and occasionally at our schoolISH.

There are basically three components to our trainings, namely courtwork movement and strategies, mental concentration, and physical conditioning.

Courtwork movement and strategies is mainly about the movement around the court, as well as the strategies that are employed during gameplay.

Mental concentration is a critical aspect of the game, and our members, especially those in Team B and Team C, must be well equipped with such skill.

Physical trainings are conducted strategically with the game requirements in mind, resulting in all our players achieving high levels of physical fitness. Many of them are also accredited with Gold Awards in the annual NAPFA Test, with a good proportion of them clinching the NAPFA Special Gold Award.

Besides our effective training components, we also constantly inject the element of fun into our sessions, and it is without doubt that our members enjoy the trainings thoroughly.
