Education and Career Guidance

What is Education and Career Guidance (ECG)?

ECG is a developmental process that facilitates the acquisition of attitudes, skills and knowledge to help students better understand themselves, explore viable education and career options, make informed decisions and develop plans to achieve their career aspirations. ECG plays a critical role in preparing students for the world of work by equipping them with the skills to remain relevant in the global economy and lead purposeful lives. Research has shown that ECG programmes can positively impact academic performance leading to optimal education and career decisions.

ECG in Tampines Secondary School

In Tampines Secondary School, we hope to equip the students with the necessary knowledge, skills and values to make decisions at each education stage for successful transition from school to further education to work and hence plan and manage their career pathways and learning throughout their lives. We feel that Education and Career Guidance is important to prepare our students for the world of work, equip them with the skills to remain competitive in the global economy and lead meaningful and productive lives. We aim to provide meaningful and relevant learning contexts through talks and workshops conducted to equip the students with skills such as Interview Skills, Study Skills, Career Cluster Exploration talks, etc and also meet the students’ varying developmental needs with Lower Secondary students concentrating on Awareness & Exploration while the Upper Secondary students focusing on Planning for the journey ahead.
